GCap fakes more winners

Mercury FM and Mercia FM, both owned by GCap Media, have been found in breach of licence after two separate incidents involving putting fake competition winners on-air.
As a result of the fixing, two members of staff and one freelance presenter have been sacked.

At Mercia FM, the incident happened on the breakfast show on April 30th, when the FlyTxt system failed to work so one of the presenters in the studio rang her neighbour for an on-air chat.
At Mercury FM in Crawley, the phone system was still on divert to the Bristol network studio which meant no real callers were received at the local station.
Both stations broadcast and apology and displayed a message online about the incident.
