Magic 105.4 stays top in London – barely

Bauer's Magic 105.4 continues to lead the London marketplace, despite losing nearly 2.9 million listening hours in the last three months.

Heart 106.2 and Capital remain second and third respectively, making significant gains between them.
Magic's listenership have slipped from just over two million to 1.885 million, while average hours have dropped from 7.4 to 6.3. The station's total share of listening now stands at 5.8 per cent, down from 7.4 per cent in Quarter 2.
Heart 106.2 has made slight gains in audience and remains steady with a 5.7 per cent share of the market, meaning a gap of just 0.1 per cent market share between Heart and Magic.
However Capital Radio, recently rebranded as 95.8 Capital FM has piled on the hours; despite losing 17,000 listeners overall, the station has increased its total listening hours by over 1.8 million in just three months. Capital's market share now stands at 5.4 percent, much improved from last quarter's 4.6 per cent.
Elsewhere, Kiss 100 increased its audience by nearly 117,000 in three months. The final book for Virgin Radio showed its FM reach dip below a million, while LBC 97.3 added over two million hours of listening.
XFM 104.9 lost 17% of its reach while increasing average hours from 3.8 to 5.3. Choice FM, soon to join Global's Galaxy network, lost ground on all measures.
