Long-term host of the Sony Radio Academy Awards Paul Gambaccini has been dropped after 10 years in the position, to be replaced by a younger presenter.
The 59 year old revealed the news that he had been told "very politely" that his services were no longer required in an [link=http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2008/dec/21/radio-bbc]interview[/link] with the Guardian newspaper.
He said: "I have presented the Sony awards for 10 years and I will not be presenting the next one. The new board wanted someone younger and a change. Ten years is the longest run ever and I feel very, very privileged to have been able to do that."
RadioToday.co.uk is currently awaiting news as to who the new host of the show, now in its 27th year, will be.
