Fresh renews Dales licence

Fresh Radio has held on to the FM and AM licence to broadcast for the Yorkshire Dales despite being in administration at the end of last year.

Ofcom declared that it was going re-advertise the licence last December when it looked like Fresh Radio’s former parent company might not re-apply for its licence. The existing licence has now been renewed to run to 2021.
Ofcom have also re-awarded the local FM commercial radio licence for the Cambridge area to current licensee, Cambridge Radio Ltd (Star Radio). The media regulator has asked holders of the Basingstoke local commercial radio licence, Kestrel FM Ltd, to re- apply for the licence via Ofcom’s ‘fast-track’ procedure. Ofcom has also invited applications for the FM licence for Havering.
