Radio 2 wins Station of the Year

BBC Radio 2 has been re-named as the National Radio Station of the Year at the 2009 Music Week Awards.

The national station, the UK's most listened to radio service, has won the award for the last four years. This year it beat BBC 6 Music, Radio 1, Classic FM and Planet Rock.
Former controller Lesley Douglas, now at Universal Music, was in the audience at the event at London's Grosvenor House Hotel this evening (Wednesday).
In the only other radio category, Bauer Media's Radio City picked up the Regional Radio Station of the Year award. Clyde 1, Rock FM, Heart 106.2 and BBC Radio Kent were also nominated.
