Chris Evans has said that he the thinks talkSPORT’s breakfast show should have claimed a Sony. Evans was a guest on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast Show when he made the remarks.
The broadcaster was a guest on the show earlier this week, sitting in with Brazil and co-host, Ronni Irani. The effusive Evans said: "You were nominated – I think you should have won."
He added: "It's a two-way street – they're there [the audience] for you as much as you're there for them…and that is the key to radio, I think.”
He neglected to mention the efforts of 5 Live Olympic Breakfast, which scooped the Sony, or Sportsweek and Olympic Sportsworld on the BBC World Service, which were all nominated for The Sports Award category.
A BBC spokesperson said: “Chris does not have any clause in his contract which prohibits him from expressing his personal opinions on any subject, including his praise of commercial radio”.
