Ofcom has invited declarations of intent for Warrington’s Wire FM and Cheltenham’s Star licences. Wire’s licence expires in August 2010; Star’s will end a month after that.
The media regulator proposes extending licences for both areas from the cut off point through to the end of 2015. Deadline for prospective applicants is July 1 2009.
In related news, Quay West Radio has re-applied for its local commercial radio licence in West Somerset and been invited to use Ofcom’s ‘fast-track’ procedure in its application. While Macclesfield’s Silk FM have retained their licence, which now remains valid until the end of 2015.
