107 The Bee boss heads to 2BR

107 The Bee Station Manager Simon Brierley has been hired by TLRC/UKRD to take up the same position at their Burnley station 2BR.

The position at 2BR became available when previous station manager Andrea Mercer made the move to Pirate FM in Cornwall. Now, in a significant move which will see the two stations operate more closely, the stations will share the same operational manager for the first time, whilst the
ownership remains separate.
Since its launch in 2005, The Bee has been part-owned by TLRC (now under the control of UKRD), The Radio Business, and other radio investors and
local shareholders. 2BR has been under full control of TLRC since June 2004.
Simon Brierley says he is looking forward to the challenge: "The opportunity to head up these two fantastic teams is an exciting one. There has always been a close working relationship between the two stations, and that can only increase as we work together to grow both brands."
William Rogers, from UKRD told RadioToday.co.uk:: "Simon knows the area like the back of his hand and is also well known to both teams. He has also acquired a good reputation as an operator in a relatively short time. Both these stations can make real strides with some co-operation, investment and
focus. When Andrea decided to move to Pirate, and we are absolutely delighted she's there, it was an opportunity to look carefully at the future and re-structure accordingly."
The Bee is now advertising for a programme controller/presenter due to Simon stepping down from his daily show, whilst former Magic 999 presenter Dave Asher has been appointed in the same position at 2BR following Ricky Kirby's move to Rock Radio.
