West Berkshire's Kick FM has rebranded as Newbury Sound under the new ownership of Andover Sound.
The new station launched at 7am today on 105.6 and 107.4 FM with Queen's Don't Stop Me Now. Presenters include Chris Wright, Steve Randall and Stuart McGinley.
Neighbouring Andover Sound Limited bought the station from Tindle Radio two months ago and is now controlled by Ian Axton, although Tindle Radio still has a 20 per cent holding.
Ian Axton is a former Managing Director of Spire FM in Salisbury and last year he launched North West Hampshire's Andover Sound.
He told RadioToday.co.uk: ‘We’ve assembled a fantastic team to launch Newbury Sound. We’re all passionate about high quality local radio that makes a real connection with listeners.“
Newbury MP Richard Benyon appeared on air for the launch. He said “there are so many exciting developments in and around Newbury at the moment, it’s great to have a new local radio station that’s at the heart of things, communicating with people and playing great music, it’s a fantastic day for us.”
Kick FM launched in 2000 and was most recently fully owned by Tindle Radio.
