Digital Radio sales reach 10m

Cumulative sales of digital radio sets topped ten million at the end of November. It took eight years to reach five million sales by 2007, but that figure has been matched in just two and a half years.
Similarly, it took radio makers PURE six years to reach one million sales by the end of 2006, though the company has just tripled that figure in the amount of sets sold.

Paul Smith, general manager, PURE said: “We were the first manufacturer to sell half a million digital radios, then one million, and now we’re the first to sell three million.”
Tony Moretta, chief executive, DRDB (Digital Radio Development Bureau) added: “This is a yet another milestone for digital radio and we congratulate PURE. They have pioneered digital radio in the UK and have consistently produced innovative, high quality products.”
