Radio listeners re-tune to AM

A handful of medium wave stations have seen an increase in official listening figures this quarter – including Signal 2 and Gold South East Wales.

Signal 2 has gained an extra 48 per cent weekly reach, whilst the former Capital Gold station welcomed an extra 55 per cent.

The trend continues around the groups too, with Magic in Hull, Manchester and Lancashire all on the up, along with Clyde 2.

Gold around the country seems to have picked up a good amount of listeners, with Manchester, Suffolk and Northampton all recording a high rise is listeners. It's not known if the extra listeners are enjoying the stations on DAB, or re-uniting themselves with their medium wave radio sets.

It's not all good news though, as Gold Bedford, Birmingham, Dorset and Kent all see around 20 to 30 per cent of their audience leave.
