Heart-less publicity for JACK?

JACK fm and FM107.9 wasted no time on Monday to announce they would soon be the only radio stations to broadcast from Oxfordshire.

It follows Global Radio's decision to move programmes for Heart (nay, Fox FM) to a new regional site in Reading.

Ian Walker, General Manager of Oxfordshire's 106 JACKfm and Oxford's FM107.9 said "It's a shame Heart FM's owners don't feel Oxfordshire is important enough to their business plans to keep a local presence here, but we wish them well on their move to Reading."

The situation in Oxfordshire is similar to [link=https://radiotoday.co.uk/news.php?extend.6026]over a dozen[/link] sites across the UK – with many former local commercial radio stations leaving their home towns to [link=https://radiotoday.co.uk/news.php?extend.6025]co-locate[/link] with neighbouring Heart stations.

JACK fm previously held a [link=https://radiotoday.co.uk/news.php?extend.4543]funeral[/link] through Oxford when Fox FM re-branded to Heart in March.

Although, as one eagle-eyed Radio Today reader pointed out, Banbury Sound isn't going anywhere, and is also based in Oxfordshire, along with BBC Oxford.
