SunTalk closes after 18 months

Online radio station SunTalk has ceased 'broadcasting' after 18 months.

A message on the station homepage, which carried just one three-hour Jon Gaunt live programme per day, simply says Thank You For Listening.

The station, which has won many industry awards and nominated for even more, launched in March 2009.

Just this week, the station's main (nay, only) presenter Jon Gaunt lost his legal battle with Ofcom over an on-air rant in November 2008 in which he called a local councillor a "Nazi".

The Guardian recently "[link=http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2010/jul/13/jon-gaunt-loses-legal-battle-nazi-jibe]revealed[/link]" that the Sun newspaper was planning to launch SunTalk as a national digital station – but this is highly unlikely to happen now the station has closed down.
