Bridge and Bay want format change

Town and Country Broadcasting has applied to Ofcom to change the format of two of its local commercial radio stations, Bridge FM and Bay Radio.

The proposal is for these stations to be able to co-locate and be provided from a location anywhere within Ofcom’s ‘approved areas’ of West Wales and South Wales.

Both Bridge FM and Bay Radio were both confirmed as being in the West Wales approved area, despite more connections to South Wales.

The company already operates seven radio stations from two sites, but argues that Ofcom's approved areas don't reflect the geography of the area correctly. The change of Formats for Bridge FM and Bay Radio will allow the company greater flexibility in the future, should it be required.

MD Martin Mumford told RadioToday.co.uk: "We're not applying to alter our programming in any way."

Ofcom is asking for [link=http://stakeholders.ofcom.org.uk/consultations/bridge-fm-bay-radio/]views on the request[/link].
