Sam Jackson becomes Classic FM Editor

Global Radio has appointed Classic FM Executive Producer Sam Jackson to the new role of Managing Editor of the station.

He’ll be responsible for day-to-day programming on the national classical music station and will report to station MD Darren Henley.

Sam, who has been with Classic since 2004, said: “It’s a very exciting time to be part of the Classic FM team. I’m thrilled and privileged to be taking on this new role, as we look to further strengthen the sound of the station.”

After starting as Assistant Producer at the station, Sam became Executive Producer for Music and Events in 2008 and took responsibility for Classic FM’s music policy as well as events and arts partnerships.

Managing Director Darren Henley said: “Sam’s appointment comes at an important time in Classic FM’s evolution, as we enter our 20th year of broadcasting. As part of Global Radio, we’ve grown our weekly audience by a million listeners since the beginning of 2010 and have just been named Station of the Year at the Arqiva Commercial Radio Awards. Sam’s considerable knowledge and experience make him a key appointment as we focus on building significant new audiences for classical music.”
