A new position of Group Managing Director has been created at GMG Radio, and filled by Smooth Radio Brand MD Andy Carter.
He’ll now be responsible for all stations in the group, including the soon to launch Real Radio XS in Manchester on September 5th.
Regional Sales Director Michael McIntyre has been promoted to Managing Director of GMG Radio’s North West operations, in addition to his current role.
GMG Radio Chief Executive Stuart Taylor said: “Andy has a wealth of experience across all areas of the business – from programming and sales through to strategic planning – which will provide him with the knowledge understanding to develop and grow our brands.”
Andy Carter said: “We have two extremely strong brands in Smooth and Real and a fantastic team of creative people working on each. I’m looking forward to working with them to ensure that both our national station and regional network continue to deliver great content for listeners and results for advertisers whilst focusing on ways to ensure both brands reach their full potential for growth.”
Last month GMG Radio announced they were either selling or re-branding Rock Radio in Scotland, whilst Rock Radio in Manchester will be known as Real Radio XS from next month, continuing with its classic rock format.
