BBC Radio 1Xtra hosts underage night

1Xtra has announced plans for the station’s first ever underage club night later this month, which will be just for 14-17 year olds.

The event, at London’s indigo2 venue will feature presenters from the station including Mistajam, Tim Westwood and DJ Target.

The station says the night – on 23 August – will provide the ‘perfect opportunity for young audiences to get truly involved with the music they love’ and that there will be no alcohol or cigarettes on sale at the venue or allowed to be taken in. Tickets aren’t free, but aren’t expensive either at £5 plus booking fees.

The main room on the night will feature sets from Radio 1Xtra DJ’s Mistajam, Tim Westwood, DJ Target, Robbo Ranx, CJ Beatz and Young Lion. They’ll also be supporting new UK talents DJ Rocha and Sapnarella behind the decks in the second room. There’ll also be personal appearances from the likes of Sneakbo and Loick Essien.

Neil Wyatt, Editor Live Music & Events for BBC Radio 1 and BBC Radio 1Xtra said: “We’re really excited to announce the launch of BBC Radio 1Xtra’s first ever club night. We wanted to create a cutting edge club night, in an amazing venue, exclusively for our teenage audience. It’s a big opportunity for us to connect with young listeners and build a special BBC Radio 1Xtra event that is designed just for them.”
