Gethin Jones joins Real Radio Wales

Former Blue Peter TV presenter Gethin Jones is joining Real Radio in Wales to front their coverage of this month’s Rugby World Cup.

He’ll present three hourly shows each week during the tournament with Welsh rugby star Tom Shanklin as his co-host.

‘Gethin’s Rugby World Cup’ will air 6-7pm on Fridays and Mondays from this week as well as Sundays 7-8pm. We’re told that as well as following Wales’ progress in the tournament in New Zealand, the show will feature guests from the world of rugby and entertainment.

Shanklin is one of Wales’ most-capped centres and also played for London Welsh, Saracens and Cardiff Blues.

Gethin said; “I’m chuffed to be coming home to Wales to present the show on Real Radio. I’m the most passionate Rugby fan. With quite a few mates in the Welsh Rugby scene, I’m looking forward to some great banter as well as the serious business of disagreeing with everything Tom says.”

Tom added: “I’ve always been told I’ve got the face for radio so I am delighted to be teaming up with my main man Gethin. I’m looking forward to keeping up with the Welsh camp throughout the campaign and also educating Gethin in the art of rugby.”

Gareth Setter, programme controller for Real Radio Wales told RadioToday.co.uk: “Bringing Gethin and Tom to Real Radio Wales is a complete coup. We are thrilled to welcome them both as part of Real Radio’s Rugby World Cup Team. Even more so, we look forward to joining the whole of Wales in getting right behind Warren Gatland’s men and supporting Wales through every step of the tournament.”
