BBC Radio 2 has announced details of an exclusive ‘homecoming’ gig for Bury band Elbow, who’ll perform for Jo Whiley’s In Concert programme next month.
The group will do tracks from the Mercury Prize nominated album, Build A Rocket Boys!, as well as their backcatalogue, in a show from Manchester Cathedra which will also be shown online and via the BBC Red Button.
Jeff Smith, Head of Music at Radio 2 and 6 Music, says: “I’m delighted to continue our homecoming series with Elbow. They are a magnificent live band and I can’t wait to hear how the cathedral setting lends itself to their stirring and anthemic music.”
It’s all on Radio 2 from 8-10pm on Thursday 27 October, with coverage switching to BBC 6 Music from 10pm for the gig’s encore.
Previous Radio 2 In Concert ‘homecoming’ gigs have seen Paolo Nutini return to his hometown of Paisley, Scotland – and taken Manic Street Preachers back to Blackwood in South Wales.
