MuxCo applies for North Wales

Ofcom has received just one application for the North Wales local digital radio multiplex licence. It comes from MuxCo North Wales Limited, owned mostly by Town and Country Broadcasting.

If the sole application is successful, it will mean GCap Media stations Coast FM and Champion FM will gain a DAB slot, along with United Christian Broadcasters' UCB UK, two Traffic Radio services – one in English and one in Welsh – and Wales Live, a new national digital radio service set to be carried on MuxCo's two other Welsh multiplexes.
MuxCo will also carry BBC Radio Wales and BBC Radio Cymru, and expects all services to be operational within two years of licence award.
