BBC Radio 5 live presenter Richard Bacon is moving to BBC Radio 2 for the duration of the Olympics, RadioToday.co.uk can reveal.
He’ll host an evening show with Zoe Ball whilst 5 live roll out a special schedule of sport.
Richard told Radio Today during the live Sony webcast in May that he won’t be on 5 live in the summer, but will be hosting a daily show on another national radio station.
And today a spokesperson from BBC Radio 2 told RadioToday.co.uk: “The brilliant Zoe Ball and Richard Bacon cap off Radio 2’s Olympic celebrations with a glitzy evening music and entertainment show. There’ll be lots of live music and even livelier chat, and we’ll make sure we get all the gossip backstage at the Games.”
We’re awaiting to hear what time Ball and Bacon will be on-air, and what the schedule around the new show will look like.
Across both Radio 5 live and Radio 5 live Olympics Extra there will be 580 hours of live commentary alongside 170 hours of highlights over the Games period. Mark Pougatch, who has broadcast at four Summer Olympics, leads the 5 live coverage from London during the Games.
