Sam Walker leaves 5 live for family travels

5 live and BBC Radio Manchester presenter Sam Walker is taking a break from radio to go travelling with her family.

She’ll leave on October 20th and has told listeners she’ll be back in the New Year.

Sam tweeted a note saying “It’s something I’ve yearned for & thought would hopefully come in the future, when the job was right, the money was right, the house was right, the kids were the right age…

“I’ve realised the right time never really comes, so I feel excited and energised and scared and anxious and all the things that make you feel alive and I’m sad to say I’ve decided to leave BBC Radio Manchester on October 20th. I’ll also be taking a break from 5 live and instead our family are going on an adventure.”

Sam hosts drivetime on BBC Radio Manchester and Sunday Breakfast on 5 live, and previously worked at Key 103 and Real Radio.
