BBC Radio Leicester is launching a new Sunday evening show with Leicester-born singer, producer and songwriter Frank Benbini, drummer and one-third of the band Fun Lovin’ Criminals.
Speaking about his new show, Frank said: “I’m really excited to bring my tunes and tales from my years in the music biz to the listeners of BBC Radio Leicester. Growing up in the city, Leicester has always been a big part of my life and I can’t wait to bring some of the music that I love back to it.”
Sophie Shardlow, Editor of BBC Radio Leicester, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Uncle Frank to the BBC Radio Leicester team. His new Sunday evening show will be full of the best funk tracks and a breadth of knowledge from across the music industry. It’s an honour to welcome such a Leicester talent to the station and open up a whole new fan base.
“BBC Radio Leicester is always looking to broadcast a more diverse selection of music, and I think local listeners will love Frank’s selection of funk, jazz and groove.”
The new show will run between 6pm and 8pm and feature a selection of Frank’s favourite funk and rare groove tracks.
