Radio station launched aimed at airline Cabin Crew

A new radio station exclusively for airline cabin crew around the world has been launched online.

CCFM On Air started during the coronavirus pandemic on May 25th targeting 100,000 cabin crew and their aviation colleagues.

The service is the brainchild of current serving stewardess Deborah Henley and the former purser with British Airways and radio veteran Del Wilden.

They agreed that particularly during the Coronavirus lockdown, the crew community needs each other more than ever.

Deborah said at the launch of the station: “These are such worrying and lonely times for everyone but particularly for airline staff who find themselves stuck at home, depending on social media for daily contact when they would much rather be at work chatting to customers and colleagues.

“I have long believed that the cabin crew community needs their own radio station that is internet-based, brings them closer together and talks their language. Now just seemed the perfect time to launch as so many people are worried about their job security. We will be advertising any new crew job opportunities first on our radio station.”

Deborah and Del have already enlisted the help of guest presenters and contributors including former Heartbeat actress Tricia Penrose, Leo Jones, star of the popular easyJet reality TV show Airline, Emma Kenny, from ITV’s This Morning family and support team and local radio presenter Marc Johnson. Leo and Katrina from ITV’s Airline are also on board.

Del, currently a presenter on Radio Wirral, said: “We have a strong and enthusiastic team working together and I am certain CCFM On Air will be welcomed by my colleagues around the world. It’s a great way of keeping in touch and sharing music, laughter and any anxieties or problems we may have. Although it is aimed at cabin crew primarily of course people from every part of the airline industry are welcome to join in as we are one big aviation family.”

The launch of CCFM On Air is being privately funded but they are looking for sponsors, advertisers and partners to help them maintain the service.
