Capital XTRA Managing Editor Al Smith leaves

Al Smith, Managing Editor – Capital XTRA/Senior Music Programmer at Global is leaving the company today.

The move is due to a change in the structure of the Capital management team which will see Brent Tobin become Capital’s Brand Managing Editor.

Brent takes on overall responsibility for the programming and digital output of Capital, Capital XTRA and Capital Dance, supported by a senior team on each channel.

Al was promoted from Deputy Managing Editor of Capital XTRA and Head of Music – Capital Brand, to become to Managing Editor of Capital XTRA just last year.

A Global spokesperson told RadioToday: “We’d like to thank Al Smith for the huge contribution he has made, from leading Capital XTRA’s growth and overseeing the launch of Capital XTRA Reloaded, to helping shape the musical position of both Capital and Radio X.
