Resort Radio is getting ready to start in January aimed at the UK domestic holiday market.
It’ll launch online on Monday 4th January 2021 serving coastal resorts such as Margate, Blackpool, Brighton Scarborough, Southend on Sea, Hunstanton and Portsmouth.
Simply branded RESORT, the station says it is directed at family fun, great music, unmissable news, and events in anticipation of a UK holiday market boom in 2021.
Presenters include Blackpool’s Drag Queen DJ of the Year – Demi Godd, Portsmouth vocalist Mark Harris, and North East Freddie Mercury Tribute Neil Angus.
Founder & Station Manager, Steve Buchan who worked at Haven for 10 years and London’s The O2 for 5 years said: “In-room or on park entertainment isn’t new – but how the consumer enjoys entertainment has changed. This is partly due to social distancing but also how we choose to enjoy our recreational time.
“Radio presenter and listener can be an intimate relationship if delivered correctly rather than sitting in a crowded venue. The team and I have created a station with exciting and compelling family friendly content that loves all the holiday brands and hotels but has no reason to mention any.
“Resort Radio will provide unbiased digital entertainment with live presenters daily with a schedule based upon variety and diversity.”
Demi Godd will host Sunday Night PRIDE and said: “It’s fantastic to be able to entertain in this way, I’ve DJ’d, have a loyal Instagram following, performed in cabaret and now by adding produced radio is really exciting.”
Mark Harris, Broadcasting from Portsmouth said “2020 has been a tough year for events, they’re on, they’re off – we’ve had to find other ways to be creative and being part of the RESORT team gives me a new way to connect with an audience and hopefully I’ll pick up some new followers along the way.
“And of course Portsmouth is a fantastic place to live, I want to engage with local attractions and businesses and get them known – let’s make Portsmouth a destination of choice”.
Resort Radio launches at 7am on 4th January 2021.
