Classic FM has been celebrating its 30th birthday in Scotland with a special concert at St Margaret’s, Braemar.
The performance was in the presence of HRH The Prince Charles, Duke of Rothesay.
Hosted by Classic FM’s Margherita Taylor MBE and presenter Dr Robert Lovie, the concert featured musicians from across Scotland including an ensemble of musicians from the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, the Ayoub Sisters, Caritas Choir and conductors Dr John Frederick Hudson and Professor Paul Mealor.
Today, Classic FM presenter Alexander Armstrong broadcast his radio programme from Glasgow as part of the celebrations.
Classic FM is touring the UK all this week, broadcasting live from the four home nations. Alexander, on-air from 9am till 12pm, hosted today’s three-hour show from Global’s Broadcast Centre in West Regent Street.
During the programme, Alexander was joined by classical music duo, the Ayoub Sisters.
As part of Classic FM’s UK birthday tour, Alexander has teamed up with his fellow Classic FM presenters Aled Jones, who presented his Sunday breakfast show from Cardiff yesterday, and Anne-Marie Minhall, who will host her weekday afternoon show from Belfast tomorrow.
On 7th September 1992, Classic FM launched on-air, becoming Britain’s first national commercial radio station.
The Classic FM 30th Birthday Concert: Royal Deeside was broadcast on Monday evening (5th September) from 8pm to 10pm on Classic FM.
