South Gloucestershire station to apply for local DAB radio multiplex

Thornbury Media Community Interest Company, which runs Thornbury Radio, is applying for the recently advertised small-scale DAB licence for the region.

The group has been planning and in discussions locally for several months and is beginning to assemble the proposed line-up of services and planned coverage area.

The proposed DAB coverage region covers a large part of the South Gloucestershire area, along with the crossroads of the M4 and M5 corridors.

TMCIC has brought in Nick Piggott from Muxnet as a technical consultant and provider.

David Wrench, Director of Thornbury Media Community Interest Company said, “Not only will we be building on the success of Thornbury Radio on FM, the local DAB technology will extend our coverage and bring more choice to the communities of South Gloucestershire.”

TMCIC is currently looking for established local community-based or not-for-profit radio stations to join as part of their application, but are also looking for any service, local, regional, or national that might be interested in expressing an interest in broadcasting to this area of South Gloucestershire.
