The Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, the Rt Honourable Lucy Frazer MP has visited Cheshire’s MIX 56 ahead of its launch on DAB later this month.

Cheshire’s MIX 56 is launching later this month on the new Warrington, Widnes and Runcorn digital multiplex and has also signed up for East Cheshire and Stockport.

The Secretary of State was given a tour of the studios in Lymm and met with some of the children who present their weekly Kids Live at 5 show working with local primary schools in Cheshire.

Lucy Frazer MP said: “I think you are doing a fantastic job, it is so important to have local radio, bringing the community in, doing community events and spreading the word is just fantastic.”

Andy Carter, Warrington South MP added: “The government have played a big part in extending DAB to small communities, it’s the future of radio so more listeners have access to digital radio services.  We wish Cheshire’s MIX 56 the best of luck with the switch on later this month.”

Paul Smith, Station Director Cheshire’s Mix 56 commented: “It was a pleasure to welcome The Secretary of State to MIX 56 and to demonstrate the importance of local radio.  Lucy was impressed with the variety of programmes and how we involve our community.  We can’t wait for DAB to further enhance our local offering.”
