Dotun Adebayo to host new show across BBC local radio network

The networked Sunday evening show on BBC local radio stations will be hosted by Dotun Adebayo.

The new programme will feature community issues from around the UK, hosted from BBC Radio London.

It will replace the current local and regional shows across the network from November 12th 2023 each Sunday from 6pm till 10pm.

The changes are part of the Digital First strategy at the BBC which is removing local programmes on the majority of stations after 2pm weekdays and most of the weekends.

Dotun Adebayo said ‘I’m delighted to be presenting this new show – celebrating the best of community programming across Local Radio and discussing the issues that matter most.’

A BBC spokesperson told RadioToday: As well as Dotun’s Sunday night show – celebrating the best of community programming across Local Radio and the issues that matter most – there are 20 community programmes available across 33 of our local stations on Monday and Friday evening between 1900 – 2200.

“Monday night focuses on the Asian Community, while Friday night focuses on the African Caribbean community.

“Overall, these changes see an increase in the number of hours of ring fenced for community programming.”

Dotun is already on-air in the timeslot on BBC Radio London, and will continue his overnight shows on 5 Live.
