Big Top 40 Chart show producer Craig Kingham leaves after 1200 number 1 songs

Craig Kingham, a producer on the Big Top 40 chart show has left after almost 24 years.

He started on the show as the Pepsi Chart in 2000 and has worked on a variety of other output at Global and its predecessors, including Gold and 95.8 Capital FM.

Craig has worked with a whole host of presenters & producers on the show over the years including Neil Fox, Will Manning, Stephanie Hirst, Marvin Humes along with guest presenters such as Simon Cowell, Richard Blackwood, Rachel Stevens and Alesha Dixon.

Upon reflecting on his time on the show, Craig told RadioToday: “I’ve had an amazing time working on the chart over the years, it’s been a privilege to spend my Sunday working with such a talented team of presenters and I’ve been lucky to be able to work with and meet a range of big name live guests.

“Every time I’ve gone to work on the chart, I’ve loved it – it’s not felt like work to me and I’m very grateful for the opportunity all those years back. I wish the team well and know the show will carry on going from strength to strength.”

Craig has a number of stories from his time working on the chart, including suggesting to Neil Fox that they sing the jingles on air when the jingle machine broke (which they proceeded to do during the entire show) and how he was asked “is everyone here as old as you” by Paloma Faith when he picked her up from the front door, followed by a friendly hug at the end of the programme.

The last show for Craig was 26th November and he calculated that he had been on the show for 23 years and 8 months. He has been present for nearly 1,200 number 1’s (not all were necessarily new).
