Winchester DAB multiplex returns to air under new company

The Winchester small-scale DAB multiplex is back on-air after falling silent in November 2023.

The original licensee, UK DAB Networks (Operations) Limited, went into voluntary liquidation resulting in many radio stations being taken off-air.

A new company emerged to take over the licence and following a positive and swift consultation by Ofcom, has started broadcasting.

Any radio station previously on the multiplex will need to agree and sign new terms with Winchester DAB Ltd, headed by Managing Director Osman Sen-Chadun.

The service now has a slightly different coverage area to the original multiplex due to a different transmitter site being used, with decrease coverage in Winchester itself, and parts of Eastleigh, a town to the south of Winchester, now added to the coverage map.
