Lauren Layfield and Shanequa Paris are joining BBC Radio 1 as the new hosts of the station’s Life Hacks programme.
They are taking over from Vick Hope and Katie Thistleton who have moved the weekday Going Home show.
Lauren spent four years hosting Capital FM’s Early Breakfast Show and is also a TV presenter, having appeared BBC’s The One Show and the BBC’s digital coverage of the 2023 Eurovision Song Contest. Earlier this year she presented Radio 1’s Friday Early Breakfast slot during January.
Shanequa is a presenter on CBBC’s news programme Newsround and last summer, she co-hosted Radio 1’s Life Hacks with Katie Thistleton as part of the station’s summer 2023 schedule.
From Sunday 7th April, Lauren and Shanequa will co-host the weekly show, 4pm – 6pm from Salford, which discusses issues affecting young people. They will also host The Official Chart: First Look Sundays, 6pm – 7pm.

“Life Hacks is such an iconic show discussing everything from health to careers to relationships; as a journalist one of my favourite things to do is talk to people about their own stories and I know the Radio 1 listeners are so wonderfully willing to share. I can’t wait to head up the chat!”
Shanequa Paris adds: “I can’t believe I get to join the most fabulous station, on a show that’s even more fabulous and speaks to so many people on a personal level. Life Hacks is that show to hold your hand and give you that hug when you need it! Sunday is the new Friday. We’ve got you covered hunny!”
