Student Radio officer to host 24 hour show from Bournemouth’s Nerve Radio

Student Radio Association South Regional Officer Joshua Dodd is to host a second 24 Hour charity broadcast this summer from Bournemouth.

He’ll be live from Nerve Radio in the town’s University on June 22nd in aid of Mind, The Teenage Cancer Trust, The Journey of a Lifetime Trust and Epilepsy Action.

Following on from the ‘Round The Clock Radio Challenge‘, which saw each of the stations in the South Region of the Student Radio Association come together for the first time in the organisations 30-year plus history and raise over £600 for charity, the team have announced a second installment ‘The South vs The World‘.

Contributions will come from Pure FM from Portsmouth, Radio Sonar at Southampton Solent University, Surge Radio from Southampton, Sound Radio from Winchester and Stag Radio from Surrey, as three presenters take on the challenge of broadcasting live for 24 hours.

South Regional Officer Joshua Dodd will be signing off from Student Radio as the broadcast ends, and has stated: “I couldn’t think of a better way to bow out than with one last broadcast that showcases the very best of Student Radio in the South.

“We have built and incredible team down here that has just gone from strength to strength, and to have the ability to showcase those talents while raising money for four charities each hand-picked by the team involved is something I’ll never take for granted.”

Joshua Dodd was personally helped by one of the charities – The Journey of a Lifetime Trust: “I was lucky enough to be one of eighteen young people to be chosen to go on a Journey of a Lifetime trip in 2016. The experience will stay with me forever, and now that they will be holding their first trip since Covid-19 later this year, I can’t wait to finally be able to say I’ve given the life-changing opportunity to someone else – all through the power of Student Radio.”

The broadcast will also feature multiple surprises, such as the return of ‘The Big Music Quiz’ with KwizzBit, challenges that see Team South go against The World, and many more innovative ideas to be announced.

This year, all event information will be available through a dedicated Instagram page.
