Milton Keynes radio station on notice for a fine after second licence breach

1055 The Point in Milton Keynes has been found in breach of its licence for not sticking to its Key Commitments for a second time.

The community station, operated by Secklow Sounds CIC, had one complaint made against it to Ofcom for not providing the service it should be.

Ofcom said The Point was not providing content for its intended audience (the disadvantaged, and those from diverse backgrounds), not providing the right music, speech, original output, local programming, or have members of the target community contribute to the operation and management of the service.

The Licensee admitted that no relevant speech discussion content was broadcast in 2023, and Ofcom pointed out that nonstop music does not count towards original output, and programmes voice-tracked from outside the licence area do not qualify as local output.

The station is now on notice that these breaches of its licence will be considered for the imposition of a statutory sanction.
