BBC Radio 1Xtra’s Carnival Weekender includes special shows, exclusive interviews, and Carnival mixes.
It all kicked off on Thursday and continues through until Tuesday.
On Sunday, 11am-1pm CassKidd will bring the pre-party, getting everyone ready for Carnival with Soca music hits.
From 4pm, Rampage Sound is set to take over the station with a Carnival special. Romain Virgo, Young T & Bugsey, Jus Now and Ugly Andz will also be passing through.
Then 7-9pm is the Heartless Crew with some UKG, dancehall and a special Soca Guest Mix from Leeds’s Hypa Crew!
On Monday and Tuesday, BBC 1Xtra will bring coverage from Notting Hill Carnival. Kash and Pharoah will be reporting from the ground, plus, Kaylee Golding will be checking in from Leeds Carnival, give a taste of the Carnival from up North.
Throughout the weekend, BBC 1Xtra will play Carnival mixes, including 1Xtra’s Soca Sixty, where DJ Puffy and DR Jay will be spinning Soca classics. Seani B’s Soca Kings will spotlight the giants of the Soca scene and more.
BBC News will be streaming the action from the heart of Notting Hill Carnival – from 11am-4pm on Monday 26th August. The stream can be watched on BBC News online or continually between 11am and 4pm on BBC iPlayer.
BBC 1Xtra’s CassKidd and Claira Hermet will guide the audience through the carnival – through the parade, the sound systems and celebrations, explaining the significance in UK culture past and present.
Cameras will be along the route at key points including the carnival judging panel and the BBC Radio 1Xtra float.
