Norwich community station, Future Radio is to run a 24-hour broadcast marathon to raise funds for local charity Future Projects.
Breakfast presenter Tom Lorenzo will begin the broadcast at 9am on Thursday 29th August, continuing through until 9am the following day. Tom will be joined by other presenters, special guests, local artists, and musicians.
The Station is raising funds for its parent charity to help tackle poverty, and deprivation in vulnerable communities. Future Projects delivers programmes of support, advice and guidance, training, volunteering and education to help people.
Pizza Express is sponsoring the fundraiser and Langley Toys will also provide support.
Tom Lorenzo says: “I’m somebody who loves a challenge, and for anyone who knows me personally it’ll definitely be a challenge for me to stay awake for 24 hours, let alone present radio! But it’s all for a wonderful cause and the experience is something I’m really looking forward to.
“I love Norwich and feel this is a great opportunity to give something back, as well as to showcase the talent we have at Future Radio and across our fine city, to the people of Norfolk and beyond!”
Station Manager, Dean Tucker adds: “Tom really is a great presenter and all-round lovely man. He only joined us last year having never presented on radio before and now he’s going to be on air for a whole 24 hours!
“I’m pleased he will be leading Future Radio through this special broadcast. I’ll be with him all the way as well as our fantastic team of volunteers.
“Whilst Tom is at the heart of this, it really is a coming together of our volunteers and voices from our community to make this something special and, most importantly, raise funds for our parent charity who do a lot of work supporting people in our area in need of urgent help. I’d better stock up on the coffee – but not too much!”
Donations are open now on the Future Radio website.
