Nation Radio South is now available on DAB across the countywide Sussex multiplex.
After doubling its audience over the past 12 months in Dorset, Hampshire, the Isle of Wight and West Sussex, Nation Radio has significantly extended its broadcast footprint into East and central Sussex and taking its potential audience to over 3 million adults across the south.
Nation’s founder Jason Bryant said: “RAJAR tells us that Nation Radio is building its audience at pace across the South and our streaming data shows Nation is already making a splash across the Sussex coastal strip of Worthing, Bognor, Littlehampton and Brighton.
“Our enhanced DAB coverage will mean more listeners in cars, homes and workplaces across Sussex can now hear the south’s Best Variety of Hits.”
The move will see Nation Radio South covering areas including Brighton, Crawley, Horsham, Burgess Hill, Haywards Heath, Newhaven, Eastbourne, Hastings and Rye.
Bryant added: “There is a significant opportunity for Nation in the South and we plan to seize it. With the Best Variety of Hits, news, weather and travel information for the South, and entertaining and friendly presenters who live in the region, we offer a highly effective platform for advertisers to reach significant audiences across the southern counties.”
Some of Nation Radio’s presenters are already well known to listeners in Sussex, with Breakfast host Steve Power having previously worked at Southern Sound and Tony Shepherd at Heart Sussex.
Steve Power said: “I started my radio career at Southern Sound in 1985 so to come full circle is amazing. East and West Sussex have a special place in my heart, and I can’t wait to be back on air across the whole county.”
Tony Shepherd said: “As a Sussex boy, born and bred. I’m thrilled at the prospect of being back on air daily on my home turf. It’ll be great to welcome back listeners who used to tune in to my show on Heart Sussex.”
Daytime host Mark Collins said: “The Golden Hour is the most popular part of the day on Nation Radio and I’m looking forward to extending the chance for listeners to guess the year to the whole of Sussex.”
