Radio News Hub is launching a brand-new weekly radio series: Dermot Murnaghan’s Legends of News.
The first episode airs this week and features an in-depth conversation with political correspondent John Sergeant.
Alongside the radio broadcast, a full-length podcast edit of each episode, produced by production company Sassy+, will be available to download from tomorrow, Wednesday 21st May.
Each week, Legends of News will revisit the stories, moments, and behind-the-scenes drama of the golden age of broadcast journalism, as told by the people who lived it.
Speaking about the inspiration behind the series, Dermot Murnaghan said: “My personal motivation for launching Legends has been stepping off the daily news wheel myself after 40 odd years before the mast and now fighting a health battle.
“Instead of attempting a probably little read memoir, I decided to speak to those Legends – the colleagues and rivals that I’ve worked with over those decades – and tease out the stories of the mad world of broadcast news when it was in its pomp before it is subsumed by the new modes of communication.”
