Songwriter and producer Cathy Dennis has been elected as a Writer Council Member of the PRS Members’ Council, following a vote by PRS members at the 2025 Annual General Meeting held today.
She joins fellow writer representatives Tom Gray, Chair of The Ivors Academy, and composer Philip Pope.
Several new Publisher Council Members were also appointed, including Megan Hall of Concord Music Publishing, Nigel Gilroy of Novello and Company, Daniel Lang of Warner Chappell Music, and Richard Paine of Faber Music.
Julian Nott, Chair of the PRS Members’ Council, welcomed the new members: “The wealth of knowledge, experience and expertise that they have amassed during their careers will bring a huge amount of insight.”
During the AGM, PRS for Music CEO Andrea Czapary Martin shared financial results for last year, confirming that PRS paid out £1.02 billion to rightsholders in 2024, an increase of 8.1% on 2023. Revenues rose to £1.15 billion, up 6.1% year-on-year.
Online royalties continued to be a major growth area, increasing by 9% to £401.2 million. This figure has grown by more than 840% since 2015. A new agreement with Sony PlayStation also contributed significantly to growth in the video games sector, where PRS collections nearly tripled.
International revenues reached £351.4 million at the end of 2024, up 79.6% since 2015, and public performance royalties rose by nearly 50% since 2018. Live music collections were up 30% year-on-year.
Andrea Czapary Martin said: “PRS members have the right to demand their society think differently, challenge the norms… it is because we recognise the need to constantly challenge ourselves that we have been able to double the royalties paid to songwriters, composers and publishers in less than a decade.”
