Magic Musicals presenter Dan Morrissey hosted a series of live programmes from New York this past weekend, tying in with the 78th annual Tony Awards at Radio City Music Hall.
The broadcasts celebrated both Broadway and London’s West End, with interviews and features from shows appearing on stages across both cities.
The Tony Awards took place on Sunday 8th June, hosted by British actor Cynthia Erivo. Magic Radio was the only UK station broadcasting live from New York in the lead-up to the ceremony.
A special programme titled Magic Musicals at the Tonys will air next weekend, featuring highlights from the coverage.
Magic’s Content Director Paul Sylvester said: “Broadcasting from New York during the Tonys comes hot on the heels of our partnership with the Olivier awards. It’s great to take listeners and put them virtually in the front row.”
The programming was supported by tourism PR firm ‘made’, whose MD Jonathan Mountford added: “Most Producers now consider Magic Radio, and its sister station Magic Musicals, to be the on-air home of West End & Broadway theatre.”
Magic Musicals will also be at the Royal Albert Hall in September for Magic at the Musicals.
