New DAB station Edge 3 launches in Edinburgh for country fans

A new 24-hour country music radio station is launching in Edinburgh on Friday 4 July.

Edge 3, from Edge Media Group, will be available on DAB digital radio across the capital, as well as online and via the Edge Player app.

The new service will broadcast from the group’s Charlotte Square studios and promises a mix of contemporary and classic country music, along with specialist shows and artist features. Confirmed names include Keith Urban, Morgan Wallen, Lainey Wilson, Post Malone, Luke Bryan and Ella Langley.

Edge 3 becomes the third station under the Edge Media Group banner, joining Edge 1 (hit music) and Edge 2 (classic tracks), and forms part of the group’s long-term expansion plans. The company, which turns three this July, recently secured investment from MB Media and appointed Micky Gavin as Programme Controller of Edge 1.

Speaking about the launch, Edge Media Group’s owner Jay Crawford said: “Country music has always been popular here in Scotland, but it’s especially massive at the moment. We’ll be featuring country music from across the decades and we hope to give fans a radio station they can listen to all day.”

Sam Hinks, who will oversee Edge 3 as Programme Controller, said: “With headline artists from the world of country music now regularly touring the UK, the time is right to launch Edge 3. It’s going to be contemporary, very accessible and great fun to be a part of.”
