A new digital radio station for Lincolnshire, Lincs Sound, will launch on Monday 30 June with a line-up of well-known voices and a focus on local content.
The station, which is already streaming online and via its app, promises to bring local stories, music and news back to the airwaves, with plans to expand onto DAB later this year.
Lincs Sound is aiming to reconnect communities across the county with local presenters, contributors and businesses, following a period where many local services have disappeared or been merged.
Katie Trinder, one of the station’s founders, said: “We’re not just a radio station—we’re a platform for Lincolnshire, by Lincolnshire.”
The schedule includes several presenters with longstanding links to the county’s airwaves. Eddie Shaw, who hosted afternoons on Lincs FM for 17 years, will take on the same slot at Lincs Sound. He said: “I’m absolutely delighted to be part of the all-new Lincs Sound… connecting people, stories and music for Lincolnshire.”
Other presenters named in the line-up include Steve Orchard, Andy Fenton, Alex B Cann, Ellie Codling, Joe Sentance and Drew Baxter.
The station is encouraging listener input from launch, with an open invitation for community stories, local musicians and contributors to help shape the sound of the station.
Lincs Sound also plans to support small businesses across the county, offering affordable advertising options designed to reach local audiences online and via digital platforms.
