BBC Radio 5 Live will broadcast a special live programme this month celebrating women in sport, hosted by Naga Munchetty and Jeanette Kwakye.
Titled Names Will Be Made LIVE, the programme airs on Monday 23 June from 11am to 2pm, live from Loughborough University – home of the new Women in Sport Research and Innovation Hub.
The three-hour broadcast will feature over 30 guests, including elite athletes, coaches, scientists and commentators. Discussions will focus on the progress and ongoing challenges within women’s sport, covering issues such as participation, funding, audience growth and health.
Confirmed guests include Olympic champion Dame Katherine Grainger, former England cricket captain Heather Knight, Paralympic racer Sammi Kinghorn, athletics legend Sally Gunnell, rugby international Maggie Alphonsi, swimmer Alice Dearing, and Premier League referee Rebecca Welch.
Jeanette, who presents the weekend breakfast on 5 Live, joins mid-morning presenter Naga in leading the live event, which forms part of the BBC’s wider ‘Names Will Be Made’ campaign. The initiative is designed to showcase the stories of female athletes and increase visibility across platforms.
Controller of BBC Radio 5 Live Heidi Dawson said the programme aims to “amplify the voices driving change” and “inspire the next generation”.
The event comes as BBC Radio 5 Live and 5 Sports Extra continue to increase their coverage of women’s sport, including live commentary from Euro 2025, the Women’s Rugby World Cup, Wimbledon, World Athletics Championships and more.
Coverage of the Euros will include presenters Rachel Burden and Jeanette Kwakye reporting live from Switzerland as the tournament kicks off later this month.
Names Will Be Made LIVE will be available to hear live on BBC Radio 5 Live and on demand via BBC Sounds.
