Red Rose Radio helps KFC mark 60 years in Preston

KFC celebrated six decades since opening its first UK branch in Preston with a day of live music, giveaways and memories at the city’s Flag Market – with Red Rose Radio broadcasting live throughout.

The event marked 60 years since the famous fried chicken brand launched in the UK. Preston town centre was the location of its very first restaurant in 1965.

Red Rose Radio was the official broadcast partner and brought the party to life with a live stage hosted by Rob Charles and Mark Blackman, and outside broadcast coverage from Alton Andrews, Martin Price and Dave Swanton.

The celebrations included a pop-up KFC exhibition, a mini cinema showing archive content, and a showcase of local food traders including Preston’s Spud Brothers.

The station gave away major prizes during the day, including holiday vouchers, a new iPhone, KFC merchandise and meals.

Russ Dee, Station Director at Red Rose Radio, said: “We were absolutely honoured to be chosen as KFC’s official radio partner for such a landmark event. The atmosphere was electric and full of community spirit and celebration.”

Red Rose Radio can be heard across Preston, Leyland, Chorley and Blackpool on DAB+, online and through its app.
