A 13-year-old from Norwich has been given her first taste of life on the airwaves after taking part in a special radio experience with community station Future Radio.
Nora Whitehead celebrated her birthday with a personalised Radio Show Experience, which saw her script and present her own programme at the station’s studios on Woodcock Road.
After impressing the team, Nora was invited back for an afternoon of live radio where she helped produce and co-present the Drive show with presenter Richard Maun. She lined up tracks, controlled the studio desk, and went live on air.
Future Radio launched the Radio Show Experiences earlier this year to open up access to broadcasting for people of all ages across the community.
Nora said: “It was amazing to be part of a real radio show and see how it all works behind the scenes. I loved getting to talk on air and choosing the music – it made me want to do this even more when I’m older!”
Christopher Remer from Future Radio added: “We were absolutely delighted to have Nora join us for the afternoon. She brought great energy and passion to the studio. It’s exciting to support young talent like Nora.”
