Wynne Evans has shared early figures showing 40,065 people listened to his new online radio show this morning.
The former BBC Radio Wales presenter posted a screenshot on social media just hours after the first programme aired.
He left BBC Radio Wales earlier this year and launched his new venture online.
On Facebook, where he has 26k followers, Wynne included a tongue-in-cheek message referencing his old workplace: “Must be lovely and peaceful over there now. Plenty of time to finally finish that game of Solitaire.”
He also joked that listener messages had caused his WhatsApp to crash, adding: “Thank you so much to everyone who tuned in.”
Wynne had been a regular voice on BBC Radio Wales for years, building up a strong following. His move online has drawn support from listeners keen to follow him outside of terrestrial radio.
The show continues tomorrow at 9am via wynneevansshow.com.
