PRS Members’ Fund has launched a new scheme giving music creators short breaks to support their wellbeing and creativity.
The “Rest & Rewind” initiative is now open to PRS members who are recovering from illness, stress or anxiety and wouldn’t otherwise be able to afford time away.
Funded with a dedicated £25,000 budget, the scheme will support up to 50 members this year. Each successful applicant will be reimbursed up to £500 for travel and B\&B accommodation costs for a UK-based break of up to five days.
The offer is open to those who’ve been members of PRS for at least seven years or have earned a minimum of £500 in royalties. Applicants will need to provide financial evidence and, if applying on health grounds, a note from a medical professional.
The PRS Members’ Fund says the scheme is about helping creators “rest, reflect and reconnect with their creative selves” after periods of hardship, with priority given to first-time applicants.
Organisers hope the chance to reset will lead to new inspiration. One previous participant said: “It helped me write songs again and connect with others. I’m now working on new music with people I met during my break.”
Another added: “It was energising and gave me back confidence in my project. I’d not put pen to paper in years.”
Applications will be assessed on a first come, first served basis. Full eligibility details and forms are available at prsmembersfund.com.
