Vernon Kay misses BBC Radio 2 show as Ken Bruce delayed on GHR

BBC Radio 2 and Greatest Hits Radio were both forced to reshuffle their mid-morning schedules today after Vernon Kay and Ken Bruce were delayed by train disruption.

On Radio 2, Vernon was due on air at 9.30am but never made it to the studio.

Sara Cox extended the breakfast show before handing over to Gary Davies at 10am. Gary told listeners, “You’ve got me till he gets here,” but Vernon later confirmed he wouldn’t make it in time for the end of his show at midday.

At Greatest Hits Radio, Simon Ross briefly filled the 10am slot with news that “Ken was stuck on a train and will hopefully arrive in time for PopMaster.”

By 10.30am, Claire Sturgess took over and told listeners: “Ken is stuck on a train again,” adding she’d hold the fort until his arrival.

Ken eventually made it to the studio at 11.38am and resumed his regular slot.

Both have previously mentioned taking the same train to work, but it hasn’t yet been confirmed whether that was the case today.

Today’s train delays appear to be part of wider issues affecting the West Coast Main Line, with reports of signal failures and disruption across the morning.
