Your Harrogate’s breakfast presenter and Creative Director, Nick Hancock, is set to leave the station after five years.
Nick co-founded the business in 2020 with Commercial Director Adam Daniel, initially launching Your Harrogate as a local news and lifestyle website. Responding to demand for a hyper-local radio service, Your Harrogate Radio went live in March 2021, adding DAB coverage across North Yorkshire in February 2022.
Since launch, Nick has overseen content strategy and growth across the group. This included the acquisition of Rombalds Radio in 2022, which has since been rebranded as Your Skipton and Your Ilkley to extend the group’s footprint across North and West Yorkshire. Nick presented the breakfast show across all three stations with bespoke content for each area.
Reflecting on his departure, Nick Hancock said: “It has never really felt like a job to be honest, more like coming to work to talk to your friends. Every single day I’ve looked forward to getting on the radio and talking about all the great things happening in our areas. I have loved every second and am extremely grateful to all the local businesses for their brilliant support and all the listeners for tuning in. I will miss it all a lot.”
Before setting up Your Harrogate, Nick was programme controller and breakfast presenter for UKRD’s Stray FM.
Adam Daniel now takes a majority controlling share in the company and its portfolio of stations. He said: “It’s been an amazing five years working alongside Nick and I’m so grateful for his support since we launched Your Harrogate and then expanded to Skipton and Ilkley. Everyone here wishes him all the best for the future.”
He added: “The business has flourished in just five years and it’s in a fantastic place moving forward. Our stations continue to be the place to turn for the latest news, weather and traffic news – as well as half price deals and competitions. We’ve got a great team who are ready to step up to support the next phase of our development across programming, content and commercial and we have an exciting future ahead.”
